Teaching Opportunities

Dear Readers,

If you or someone you know is looking for a new opportunity to teach in a small but vibrant Catholic school community, you might be interested in the following job openings.

I will also take the opportunity to recommend a wonderful essay by Dorothy L. Sayers -- yes, the Dante scholar and detective writer -- on classical curriculum, here. Also,
my own take on Wayside Academy from my personal experience, blogged not long ago, which might be of interest.

Finally, on the theme of teachers and Easter, a short reflection I made over at Ibo.

  1. that high school position looks like a dream job!
But getting to the matter at hand, if anyone is past college age, and feels that he or she has missed a lot of classical education, getting a copy of the 3-volume Penguin edition of Dorothy Sayer's translation of the Divine Comedy (finished post mortem by Barbara Reynolds) would be the best investment in their education they could make. Just the notes alone would make it worthwhile.

    1. Thanks, Joe. Yes, Wayside Academy would be a good place to work/live. I also agree that Sayers' DC would be a useful investment. I might also recommend "The Well-Trained Mind: A Guide to Classical Education at Home" by Jessie Wise and Susan Wise Bauer and "Classical Education: The Movement Sweeping America" by Andrew Kern & Gene Edward Veith, as good overviews.

  2. *** UPDATE ***

I am informed that there is a maths and sciences position at the high school level that has just opened up as well. One should follow the same procedures outlined above if interested.

Given these job openings for next year, I should mention that two of the three departing teachers are leaving to pursue religious and priestly vocations.
